Technoauthoritarianism and technopolitical resistance in contemporary visual culture
Synopsis
In the prologue, Christian León Mantilla frames the book through a critical perspective on contemporary visual culture, shaped by techno-authoritarianism, algorithmic governance, and the power of digital platforms. Drawing on debates developed within the PhD in Communication at the Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar, the author positions visuality as a key arena of political and epistemological struggle, where practices of resistance, counter-visuality, and social agency emerge. The prologue situates the essays in the volume as engaged contributions to social justice, democratic transformation, and critical communication research.
